OPEN TO THE PUBLIC
The Brant Civic Accountability Association (BCAA) is pleased to announce our 2026 Municipal Candidate Community Event, bringing together residents and candidates from both the County of Brant and City of Brantford.
With a tight community event schedule leading up to the Municipal Election, BCAA has elected to host one combined community event highlighting the mayoral candidates from both municipalities, followed by an opportunity for the public to meet and engage directly with Councillor candidates.
MAYORAL CANDIDATE PUBLIC Q&A
Following welcomes and introductions, BCAA will host a one-hour public Q&A with participating County of Brant and City of Brantford mayoral candidates.
And when we say public Q&A, we mean public Q&A.
Questions will come from members of the community. Specific questions will not be provided to candidates in advance.
Questions will focus on important municipal topics including:
• Municipal Governance, Transparency & Accountability
• Taxes, Budgets & Fiscal Responsibility
• Growth, Development & Housing
• Infrastructure, Transportation & Servicing
• Economic Development, Investment & Job Creation
• Agriculture, Farmland & Environmental Protection
• Public Safety & Community Well-Being
• City–County and Intergovernmental Relationships
• Long-Term Community Vision & Leadership
BCAA may consolidate similar questions and moderate the discussion to ensure we cover a reasonable range of topics within the available time.
PUBLIC CANDIDATE MEET & GREET
Immediately following the Mayoral Q&A, the evening will transition into a public Candidate Meet & Greet.
All County of Brant and City of Brantford Councillor candidates are being formally invited to participate.
Participating mayoral candidates will also be encouraged to stay.
This is your opportunity to meet candidates face-to-face, ask questions, discuss issues affecting your neighbourhood and community, and learn more about the people asking for your vote.
RESPECT & DECORUM
We know there are difficult issues facing both municipalities, and we expect difficult questions.
Difficult questions are welcome. Disrespectful behaviour is not.
BCAA and the Brantford Golf & Country Club will expect respect and appropriate decorum from everyone attending. Personal attacks, harassment, discriminatory or inappropriate remarks, or disrespectful behaviour toward candidates, members of the public, volunteers or venue staff will not be accepted.
This is about creating an environment where residents can ask meaningful questions and candidates can answer them openly and respectfully.
Formal invitations are being issued to mayoral and councillor candidates from both municipalities. BCAA will provide additional event information and announce participating candidates once confirmations have been received.
This event is open to the public.
Come out. Meet your candidates. Ask questions. Listen to the answers. Make an informed decision before you vote.
