Ella Haley
Candidate for Ward 5 Councillor — 2026 County of Brant Municipal Election
About Ella Haley
I am a fourth-generation resident of the Langford/Jerseyville Road area. I grew up on our family farm in Langford. We had a mixed farm with dairy cows and layer hens, and crops for the livestock. I’ve been actively engaged in community issues and concerns in Ward 5, and throughout Brant County. We are working to protect our farm by placing a conservation easement on it. My parents also protected a portion of their land, working with the Ontario Farmland Trust.
My husband & I operate Hearts Content Organic Farm, focusing on medicinal and edible herbs, farmstays, plant walks, and conservation. We formerly grew and sold organic produce at the Ancaster, Brantford, Dundas, and Paris farmers markets.
I’m a founding member of the Langford Conservancy which operates the Langford Schoolhouse as an accessible and inclusive rural community hub. I was a founding member of Lynden Friend of Migrant Farm Workers, helping these workers to feel welcome by hosting community suppers and delivering food baskets to the workers.
I’m a member of various farm organizations National Farmers Union (NFU), Ecological Farmers of Ontario (EFAO), & the Ontario Federation of Agriculture (OFA). I have served on the Board of the local NFU, and Local Food & Farm Co-ops. I’m an active member of an interfaith peace group.
