Heather Keam

For more than 20 years, my husband and I have raised our three boys in ward 4 and are proud to call it home. I deeply values small-town life. The relationships, the sense of belonging, and the willingness of people to come together when something needs to get done. Those who know me know I am often one of the first people to volunteer, organize,and help move ideas into action.

My commitment to community involvement is long-standing and deeply rooted in County of Brant. I have spent over a decade as an active member of the local Optimist Club, has served as Youth Baseball Co-Convenor for the past five years, and has helped lead several grassroots initiatives that strengthen community life in Burford and across the county. I am currently co-chair of the Burford Connects group, supported the development of the new Burford Village Square, helped co-chair the community skate park project, and continues to support the local scouting movement.

I believe volunteering is more than an act of service; it’s a way of belonging. Throughout my work and community involvement, I’ve seen that when people feel seen, connected, and capable, they can accomplish incredible things together.

I spent 13 years working in municipal government through public health, where I led initiatives including active transportation and the Healthy Communities Plan for Haldimand and Norfolk. I then spent more than a decade with the Tamarack Institute, working with communities and municipalities across Canada on community engagement, Asset-Based Community Development, Results-Based Accountability, Collective Impact, poverty reduction, housing, volunteering, community planning, and systems change.

Today, as co-founder The Bridge Collective, I continue to work with communities and organizations across Canada to help them build stronger relationships, develop practical strategies, and create meaningful change.
