About Arooj Shaikh
I am a trilingual professional in Senior Management at a large pharmaceutical company. I have 17+ years in the healthcare industry, started by treating cancer patients at the McGill University Health Center in Montreal. Managed a department of 45 staff and currently managing a budget of $15M against 100+ projects cross functionally.
President and Founder of my own registered non-profit aimed at breaking stereotypes, sharing knowledge and giving charity. Trailblazed community programs at public establishments in Brant to highlight culture and diversity. Worked with Nova Vita, Shoebox Company, Paris library, Brantford library and more.
Community leader – admin/co-admin of four different Whatsapp groups (500+ members) creating community, answering questions and monitoring engagement. Created events to bring community together. Listening to community concerns and helping/referring where I can.
Volunteer – Patient Family Advisor at the Brantford General Hospital working on multiple DEI initiatives including culturally appropriate care. Advising with the Child and Family Services of Grand Erie and Nova Vita. Steering Committee Member for the Arts, Culture and Heritage Strategy with the County of Brant published in 2024. Leading the social committee in the past at work, currently volunteering in a resource group at work.
